He already impressed at a young age and continued to do so in Formula One until his untimely death driving a Group C 1000 km race at Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) on September 1<sup>st<\/sup>, 1985. But in 1983, during qualifying for the 1000 KM Rennen at the N\u00fcrburgring Nordschleife he set a stunning lap record of 6:11.13 that still stands today.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">At the 2013 German Oldtimer Grand Prix a special tribute was organised, to celebrate the 30<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of this lap record and to honor Stefan\u2019s life and successes. His former team mate Derek Bell drove their Rothmans Porsche 956 #007 one more time on this legendary race track, and together with Stefan\u2019s former fianc\u00e9e, his father, brother and best friend they unveiled the new name for a section of the Nordschleife right after Pflanzgarten: Stefan Bellof S Kurve.
